Robert Charles Spencer, 92, of Meridian, Miss., and formerly of Switz City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at Regency Hospital in Meridian.
He was a retired Indiana history teacher and basketball coach. He graduated from Switz City High School and played on the basketball team of 1931 that was sectional champions. He also graduated from Purdue University in 1940 and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and continued to be active in the Purdue Alumni Association throughout his lifetime.
Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Gail Spencer Wright and her husband Thomas of Mooresville, and Nedra Elaine Spencer of Meridian, Miss.; a son Charles Ross Spencer of Miami, Fla.; two grandchildren, Natalie Cunningham and Thomas R. Wright, both of Mooresville; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Rupp, Thomas Wright, and Tora Cunningham, all of Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Ross Spencer, who passed away April 3, 2005, and his mother Flora M. Spencer.
Graveside service was Saturday at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, Miss.
