Glen Morris Sparks, 85, of Switz City, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Aug, 9, 1920 in Lyons, he was the son of Welker T. and Florence (Nichols) Sparks. On June 15, 1940, he married Anna Louise (Greves) Sparks.
He was a coal miner and bricklayer before going to work for Citizens Gas in 1964. He retired in 1990. He was the timekeeper for Switz City Central High School from 1951 to 1991. He was a member and a deacon at the Lyons Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife Louise Sparks of Switz City; a son Donald Sparks and his wife Carol of O'Fallon, Ill.; a daughter Glenda Sue and her husband David Headley of Switz City; five grandchildren, Dan and Jan Scully of Dana, Doug and Lisa Sparks of Avon, Jay and Teresa English of Lyons, Chad and Jodi English of Worthington, and Jennifer Hostetter and Tim Brown of Bloomfield; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William "Bill" Sparks and his wife Maryann of Noblesville, and Lowell Sparks and his wife Jewell of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son William Robert Sparks, and two brothers, Leland and Louis Sparks.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Lyons Church of Christ with Brother Mike Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Switz City Cemetery. There will be a Military Honor Guard at the cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Lyons, and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the church
