Gerald Lee Parsley, 59, of Springville, passed away at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at Purvis, Miss., where he had been driving for FEMA assisting hurricane relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina and Rita since Sept. 26, 2005.
Born Dec. 5, 1945 in Bedford, he was the son of Orville Parsley and Margaret Arthur Parsley Hess. On March 30, 1990, he married Elethia Wood.
He was a truck driver for Parsley Trucking/Landstar. He graduated from Oolitic High School and was an U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include: his wife Elethia Parsley of Springville; his mother and step-father Margaret and Thomas David Hess of Springville; two sons, Dallas Parsley and his wife Aimee of Solsberry and Jackie Parsley and his wife Marci of Solsberry; grandchildren, Dylan, Abigael, Alexandria and Mollie Parsley, all of Solsberry, and William, Amber, Rachel and Cory Wood, all of Bedford; two sisters, Lois Seagraves and her husband Bill of Nineveh, and Camille McCain of Nineveh; and a brother Thomas David Hess of Springville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Cleve and Thelma Arthur.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford, with the Rev. Wendell Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Byers-Rainbolt Cemetery in Law County with military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post.
