LEBANON -- Helen Louise Hawn, 89, of Lebanon, passed away at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon.
Born Dec. 2, 1915 in Linton, she was the daughter of Floyd Oscar and Cynthia (Eikelman) Burris. On Dec. 2, 1931, she married Dale H. Sargent in Linton. He passed away in 1963. On June 26, 1965 in Danville, Ill., she married Jack D. Hawn.
She was reared and educated in Linton, where she resided until she moved to Odon in 1948. During the period 1954 to 1971, she resided in Lebanon. She then spent about 30 years in Arlington Heights, Ill. She and Mr. Hawn lived five years in Carmel before they moved to Lebanon in 2005.
She was a bookkeeper and worked at Citizens Bank and Trust Company in Lebanon about 15 years. She also worked in banks in Arlington Heights, Ill., and Elk Grove, Ill. She retired in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Linton and the Order of Eastern Star in Odon.
She also enjoyed arts and crafts, having particularly liked designing floral arrangements, crocheting, and bowling.
Survivors include: her husband Jack D. Hawn of Lebanon; two daughters, Karen and her husband Von Lang of Fishers and Rita and her husband Charles Highsmith of Mooresville; three grandchildren, Beth and her husband Brian Hughes of Lebanon, Randy Dickerson and his wife Heather of Carmel, and Timothy D. Ruble of Indianapolis; and four great-grandchildren, Elise and Seth Hungate of Lebanon, and Conner R. and Kaley A. Dickerson of Carmel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Frank, Paul, James, and Stanley Burris, and a sister Muriel Geatches.
Graveside service will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with the Rev. David Tyra officiating.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
