John F. Arthur, 74, of Elnora, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Danville Care Center in Danville, Ill.
Born Jan. 12, 1931 in Daviess County, he was the son of William and Maude (Simpson) Arthur. On Jan. 8, 1972, he married Judy Ann (Pickard) Arthur.
He worked for RCA for 29 years, retiring in 1995. He drove truck for his father for 19 years. He was a member of the Elnora Christian Church and the Elnora Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife Judy Ann of Elnora; two sons, John Arthur, Jr. of Georgetown, Ill., and Darrell Arthur of Newberry; a daughter Kathy Jo Wampler of Bloomington; a step-son Tony Dale Niedigh of Newberry; a step-daughter Kimberly Morton of May, Texas; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister Vera Schramn of Coatsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sam, Carol, and Ralph Arthur, five sisters, Lucille and Clarabelle Arthur, Nellie Marie Bogard, and two infant sisters, and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, with Bro. Fred Whitacre officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Odon V.F.W. and American Legion.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 7 p.m. today.
