CORY ---- Barbara A. Modesitt, 67, of Cory, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 29, 2005 at her residence.
Born June 25, 1938 in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Claudis H. and Cora Avis Caress Edwards. On Jan. 28, 1956, she married Wayne L. Modesitt. He passed away July 20, 2004.
She graduated from Wiley High School in 1956. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of the Cory Zion Church and involved with the Ladies Aide at church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Riley and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and camping with her husband, and spending time with their poodle "Lucky".
Survivors include: two sons, Rick Modesitt and his wife Kathy of Terre Haute and Phil Modesitt and his wife Martha Ann of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter "Tam" Ray and her husband Doug of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Taryn Haley and her husband Matt, Tiffany Ray, Luann Modesitt, J.R. Modesitt, Brooks Modesitt, Peyton Modesitt, and Macrae Modesitt; one sister Sue Longo and her husband Bob of Brazil; a brother-in-law Alvin Modesitt and his wife Barbara of Cory; sisters-in-law, Champe Edwards, Wanda Hilton of Riley, and Elaine Collins and her husband Ray of Terre Haute; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne Modesitt, and a brother Todd Edwards.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 8th St., Clay City, with the Rev. Jerry Caskey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Riley.
Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m., and Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
