Roy L. Ward, 63, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Maine.
Born Oct. 23, 1941 in Hymera, he was the son of Bessie Shounk and Leon Ward.
He graduated from his local high school and joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17. He was proud to have served in Washington D.C. in the Drum and Bugle Corps as well as a tour in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969. He moved to Maine in 1970. He worked as a truck driver for Carl Subler Trucking for several years. He graduated from Andover College in 1981 and ran an accounting business from home until retirement due to illness. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a lifetime member of Amvets Post 12 of Yarmouth, Maine.
Survivors include: his parents; his wife of 36 years, Sandra Lary Ward; five sons, Terry Ward of Indiana, Michael L. and his wife Melinda, Matthew L. of Pownal, Maine, Andrew L. and his wife Lynn Ann of Freeport, Maine, and Adam L. of Pownal, Maine; two daughters, Linda Bell and her husband Troy and Sheryl Ward of Indiana; three sisters, Betty Joe and Eileen, and Mayme and her husband Al Taylor of Indiana; four brothers, Bill of Connecticut, Ray and Keith of Indiana, and Chuck of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and a long time family friend Carol Raymond and her two children Mark and Beth Raymond.
