John W. Phegley, 65, of Linton, passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Marion County.
Born Feb. 23, 1940 in Linton, he was the son of Alpha and Opal Pauline (Robbins) Phegley. On Oct. 17, 1959, he married Bernice M. (Kendall) Phegley.
He was a mechanic at Bob Walters Lincoln Mercury, Rishers Service Station, Jack Wheeler Ford and Don Nicholson Chevrolet until retiring in 1998. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dugger and a former member of the Linton Jaycees.
Survivors include: his wife Bernice Phegley of Linton; four sons, Roger Dale Phegley of Linton, Steven Lee Phegley and his wife Norma of Linton, Timmy Ray Phegley of Linton, and Jerry Wayne Phegley and his wife Jill of Linton; three daughters, Jonah Marie and her husband Duane Collenbaugh of Linton, Cynthia June Todd of Bloomington, and Jenny Lynn and her husband Scott Landis of Linton; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Ryan and Jaron Lee Phegley, Jarod and Devin Collenbaugh, Abby and Lexi Todd, Zach and Zoie Phegley, Keshia Bell and Austin Landis; one great-granddaughter Ariana Warner; two sisters, Ruth Horn of Springville and Helen Anderson of Bloomfield; and two brothers, Bill Phegley of Switz City and Junior Phegley of Pontiac, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Erney, Robert, Jim, Harold, and Ronnie Phegley.
Funeral service will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel, Linton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Bro. David Grafe officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Linton.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
