Gail D. "Duke" Harden, 86, of Worthington, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at his residence.
Born Aug. 2, 1918 in Jennings, Okla., he was the son of William Oliver and Daisy (Fasig) Harden. He had been married to Ruth (Karsten) Harden, who passed away Dec. 28, 1992.
Duke's family moved to Arkansas City, Kan., where he graduated from high school in 1936. He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1940 with a B.S. in Petroleum Refining Engineering. He joined Shell Oil Company in 1940, retiring in 1972, as manager of operation product pipeline, east of the Rockies. He was a member of the Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a life member of the American Legion.
Survivors include: a niece Marilyn Boren of Greenville, S.C.; and two nephews, Pat Armstrong of Denver, Colo., and Larry Harden of Port Orchard, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, and two brothers.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Worthington Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Sanders officiating.
