Dorothy Barglof Thomas, 84, of Bloomfield, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born April 9, 1921 in Greenville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ludwig Alfred and Lillian (Parker) Barglof. On April 19, 1958 in Spencer Iowa, she married Robert Hamilton Thomas. He passed away Nov. 4, 1999.
She was a dietitian for many hospitals in the country. She had received her BS degree in Dietetics at Iowa State University. She served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps, and U.S. Army Reserves as a hospital dietitian. She saw active duty during World War II and the Korean War. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield and the American Dietetics Association.
Survivors include: a son Greg Hamilton Thomas and his wife Amber of Bloomfield; a daughter Elizabeth Louise (Thomas) and her husband Larry Hudepohl of Saratoga, Calif.; four granddaughters, Rachel Thomas, Morgan Thomas, Jacqueline Hudepohl, and Cassidy Hudepohl; and one grandson Devon Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and two sisters, Frances Barglof and Gladys Green.
Memorial service will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 with the Rev. Peggy Casteel officiating. Cremation with her ashes laid to rest will be at a later date.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
