Hazel L. Mowery, 97, of Clarksville, Mich., passed away at 2:38 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at Laurels of Kent, Kent County, Mich.
Born Nov. 6, 1907 in Scotland, she was the daughter of John Summerville and Leota Inman. On June 27, 1927, she married Thomas C. Mowery. He passed away June 22, 1985.
She was a sales clerk at G.C. Murphy Co. in Linton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sandborn and a member of the O.E.S. in Sandborn.
Survivors include: a daughter Donna and her husband Cecil Whitaker of Clarksville, Mich.; five grandchildren, Terri and her husband Phil Rychner, Deanna Nelms, Todd and his wife Linda Whitaker, Tracey and her husband Mike Denton, and Mike and his wife Linda Mowery; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Chelsea Rychner, Travis and Rachel Whitaker, Holly, Chelsea and Whitney Denton, and Desirae Nelms; one sister-in-law Ruth Summerville; and many nieces and nephews and trusted friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Mowery, and a son John S. Mowery.
Funeral service will be at Sandborn Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Stafford Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
