Wilma Jane "Willie" Oliphant, 76, of Bloomfield, passed away at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at her residence.
Born March 18, 1929 in Portsmouth, N.H., she was the daughter of Warren L. Hinkle and Lelia "Babe" Cavins. She was married to Marcus "Red" Oliphant.
She was a homemaker. She was a past president of the Greene County Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution, a member of Tri Kappa, Phi Mu Sorority at Indiana University, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Indiana University Alumni Association. She was a 1951 graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Spanish and a Minor in French. She also studied at the National University of Mexico on a scholarship from Indiana University. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield.
Survivors include: her husband Marcus "Red" Oliphant of Bloomfield; four daughters, Rebecca and her husband Donald Noel of Bloomfield, Natalie Oliphant-McKamey of Bloomington, Melinda and her husband Mike Small of Bloomfield, and Elisabeth "Lisa" and her husband Buff Brown of Bloomington; and nine grandchildren, Christopher Noel, Bonnie Noel, James McKamey, Sarah Small, Sally Small, Nancy Small, Lauren Brown, Lelia "Lilly" Brown, and Jenna Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter Carrie Jane McKamey.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with tje Rev. Peggy Casteel and the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, or the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church.
