Mary Edith Padgett, 91, of Linton, passed away at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005 at her residence.
Born Sept. 22, 1913 in Linton, she was the daughter of Ray and Mamie (Cullison) Chaney. She had been married to Logan Scott Padgett who passed away Oct. 3, 1966.
She was a homemaker and previously worked in the shoe department at J.C. Penney. She was a member of the Linton First Christian Church and was a Linton High School graduate.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cindy and her husband Bill McCombs of Linton and Sharon Cross of Linton; seven grandchildren, Heather McCombs Stephanie Robinson, John McCombs, Tracy Cross, Sherry Cross, Gary Cross, and Steve Phillips; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Logan, a sister Mildred Baughman, a brother Haldon Chaney, and a granddaughter Susan Weaver.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with Pastor Don Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
