Esther J. Sweeney, 84, of Dugger, passed away at 7 p.m on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 4, 1921, she was the daughter of Melvin B. Saucerman and Elva E. (Hale) Saucerman/Aram. She was the stepdaughter of Jesse Abram. She married Robert V. Sweeney on Sept. 22, 1944.
She was a secretary for Farmers Home Administration in Sullivan and Farm Security Administration in Princeton. She attended Terre Haute Commercial College in 1939 and 1940.
Survivors include two sons, Alan B. Sweeney of Bloomington and Vernon B. Sweeney of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Miriam Sweeney, Rebekah Baker and Chris Pheifer; one half brother Jerry Abram of Dugger; and one step-sister Emma Terrell of Mt. Sterling, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two-step brothers, Harold and Max Abram; and one step-sister Lucille Gray.
Memorial service will be Wednesday at Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel at 1 p.m with Pastor John Sandiford and the Rev. Keith Pope officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be at Woodward Cemetery in Dugger.
