William Gene "Bill" Humphrey, 77, of Jasonville, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Feb. 2, 1928 in Jasonville, he was the son of Clarence and Reva (Lucas) Humphrey. On Aug. 22, 1948, he married Pat (Prout) Humphrey.
He worked in Humphrey Bakery until 1957, then went to school at Denver Colorado School of Trades to become a gunsmith. He opened his shop in Jasonville in 1959. He served in the Marine Corp. during the Korean War and was a member of the Jasonville American Legion Post 172.
Survivors include: his wife Pat Humphrey of Jasonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregg W. and Jennifer Humphrey of Indianapolis; a sister Jane Passen of Jasonville; one grandson; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Barbara Utterback, and an infant brother Jack Humphrey.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, Jasonville, with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Midland with military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, and 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
