Andy J. Dyer, 47, of Westphalia and formerly of Worthington, passed away at 1 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2005, at his residence.
Born September 5, 1957 in Linton, he was the son of Venus "Bill" Dyer and Avis Howell.
He was retired from National Gypsum Mine in Shoals. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1976, and Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Ill., in 1978 with a Degree of Associate in Applied Science, Coal Mining Technology and had also worked in coal mines. He was a member of the Sons of the V.F.W. in Worthington.
Survivors include: his mother Avis (Howell) Tohill of Vincennes; his step-father Ron Tohill of Vincennes; a daughter Lisa Smith of Linton; a son A. J. Dyer of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Dylan Morris, Aubrey Davenport and Kyndra Smith; and a brother Terry Dyer of Palestine, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Billy Dyer and his wife Sharon Dyer.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 1 p.m. on Friday with the Rev. Bobby Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
