Clifford M. Woods, 88, of Linton, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Linton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 30, 1917 in Sullivan County, he was the son of James P. and Rachel Briley Woods. He had been married to Clara B. Johnson Woods, who passed away in 1998
He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the VFW in Jasonville, and had retired from Thunderbird Coal Mine.
Survivors include: three sons, Donald R. Woods and his wife Joyce of Linton, Rickie G. Woods of Bloomfield, and Randall L. Woods and his wife Dalinda of Jasonville; two daughters, Connie and her husband Terry Montgomery and Penny and her husband Pat Stone, all of Linton; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara, a son Richard Max Woods, 10 brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren, Chris Montgomery and Terra Montgomery.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Newkirk's Funeral Home, Dugger, with the Rev. Greg Orman officiating. Burial will be in the Claiborne Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Dugger American Legion Post 224.
