Ronald E. Lechien, 66, of Linton, passed away at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at his residence.
Born Jan. 4, 1939 in Linton, he was the son of Emile and Wanetta (Stormes) Lechien. He was married for 47 years to Delores (Judd) Lechien.
He worked at the Peabody Coal Company Jasonville Shop for 27 years as a welder and truck driver. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and enjoyed spending time in his garage, playing with his grandchildren and his dog, Chelsea, and working outdoors.
Survivors include: his father Emile Lechien of Linton; his wife Delores Lechien of Linton; a son Rick Lechien and his wife Leslie of Linton; three daughters, Dana Cubert of Anderson, Robin Wren of Pendleton, and Lorie and her husband Bryan Cullison of Linton; a brother Steve Lechien and his wife Barbara of Flower Mound, Texas; eight grandchildren, Ron Wilkerson, Dane Wilkerson, Amanda Cubert, Keith Cubert, Brittany Wren, Nathan Wren, Trey Lechien, and Peyton Lechien; his mother-in-law Marjorie Winters of Linton; and a sister-in-law Sue Lechien of Linton.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother Jerry Lechien, who passed away June 19, 2004.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with the Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
