James R. Carey, 79, of Bloomfield, passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born June 6, 1926 in Noblesville, he was the son of Russel and Martha (Hawkins) Carey. He was married to Esther M. (Daniels) Carey.
He was a retired insurance salesman for Allstate Insurance Company in Kokomo. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge in Kokomo, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Kokomo Elks Lodge 190, and the American Legion in Kokomo. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife Esther M. Carey of Bloomfield; a daughter Jamie and her husband Mike Inman of Bloomfield; two grandsons, Jimmie Inman and Joey Inman, both of Bloomfield; a foster daughter Lesley Holliday of Satelite Beach, Fla.; and his mother-in-law Carrie (Hasler) Daniels of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with the Rev. Lynn Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery. American Legion Post 196 of Bloomfield will perform military honors.
Visitation was Sunday with Bloomfield Masonic Lodge services at the funeral home. Friends may call today from noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.
