Milton McGinnis 'Mac' Matthews, 86, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2005 at Metropolis, Ill.
Born Oct. 2, 1918 in Tiline Ky., he was the son of John McGinnis and Mina (Hill) Matthews.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a maintenance worker for various businesses. He was a retired bookkeeper. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50-year member of the Linton Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church in Cadiz, Ky.
Survivors include: a daughter Dorotha Smith of Metropolis, Ill.; a step-daughter Dorothy Carpenter of Terre Haute; two step-sons, Leonard Trusty of Greenwood and Steve Trusty of Mooresville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Baucum and Naomi Lynn, both of Paducah, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Blanch Matthews and a grandchild Yvonne Hart.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Stafford Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Linton American Legion Post No. 22, Linton.

Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz, Ky., took care of the local arrangements and Anderson-Poindexter, Linton, took care of burial arrangements.
