Shirley A. (Behem) Hiatt, 72, of Lyons, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Jan. 19, 1933 in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Opal (Bryan) Behem.
She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was co-owner of Hicom, Inc. at Lyons. She had retired as Outreach Secretary for Hamilton Center in Linton. She formerly worked in Medical Records at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was a Democratic member of Greene County Election Board for eight years. She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and a member of Eastern Star 371 in Lyons, Knox County D.A.R. Chapter, and the Sullivan County and State Genealogy Society.
Survivors include: her husband of 55 years Ralph Hiatt of Lyons; four daughters, Susan and her husband Butch McDonald of Elberfeld, Carol and her husband Chuck Wheeler of Newberry, Lisa and her husband Kem McKee of Linton, and Linda and her husband David Clark of Linton; a sister Shalmir Jean Watkins of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter Kemberly McKee.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Linton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with Jack Tolbert officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery, Jasonville.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home. There will be an Eastern Star service 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
