David A. Yung, 83, of Linton, passed away Tuesday morning, May 3, 2005 at his home in Linton.
Born Aug. 10, 1921 in Dugger, he was the son of Jacob and Prescilla (Griffith) Yung.
He was a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church and of the choir at the church for 47 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was past Exalted Ruler of the Linton Elks Club and was a master woodworker. He owned Yung Oil Company in Linton for 40 years.
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years Harriett Ann (Wall) Yung; two sons, Jake Yung and his wife Becky, and John Yung and his wife Heather, all of Linton; three grandchildren, Jacob Todd Yung and his wife Marni of Dugger, Angi Riley and her husband Pat of Lafayette, and Haley Yung of Linton; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Joseph, and Jacob Riley, all of Lafayette, and Taylor and Jalen Pigg of Dugger; a brother and sister-in-law Tom and Doris Wall of Linton; and a sister-in-law Lillian Yung of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jane (Yung) Young, and a brother John "Jack" Yung.
Funeral service will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Doug Witt and Nyle Riegle officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. on Thursday until the hour of services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Music Fund.
