Lorene Minnie Davis, 97, of Linton, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born May 19, 1908 in Boone County, she was the daughter of David Edgar and Stella Mary (Burtner) Tiffin. On Sept. 22, 1928, in Lebanon, she married Donald Wayne Davis. He passed away Jan. 11, 1993.
She spent most of her life in Lebanon and moved a few years ago to Linton to live with her daughter. In 1927 she graduated from Lebanon High School. Employed for several short periods, she had worked in Lebanon at the Cigar Factory, J.C. Penney's, and Honan and Crane. She also enjoyed hand crafts and flowers, and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. For many years she was the Otterbein Church organist, for 20 years the organist for the Order of Eastern Star, and played in the community for many events including weddings and funerals. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lebanon and a 50-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Lebanon, Chapter No. 23 Bonafide Club in Lebanon.
Survivors include: two daughters, Betty Joan and her husband Robert Copenhaver of Linton, and Marcia and her husband William Russell of Lebanon; three grandchildren, David E. Copenhaver, Michelle A. Leffler, and Donald L. Russell; and six great-grandchildren, Timothy Leffler, Christopher Leffler, William Smith, LaTasha Copenhaver, Cali Russell, and Tyler Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and two grandsons, Michael E. Copenhaver and Steven A. Copenhaver.
Funeral service will be at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon. Eastern Star Services will be part of the funeral service.
