John W. (J.D.) Miller, 84, of Switz City, passed away at 5:46 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 17, 1920 in Switz City, he was the son of John E. and Hazel (Justus) Miller. On Oct. 27, 1943, he married Myrtle J. (Flagtwet) Miller.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran of World War II. He was a school teacher at Switz City Central High School for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Switz City Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Switz City Masonic Lodge 676 F.&A.M.
Survivors include: his wife Myrtle J. Miller of Switz City; three sons, John D. Miller and his wife Debbie of Greenwood, Doug Miller of Switz City, and Jeff Miller and his wife Tracy of Greenwood; two daughters, Sandra and her husband Dured Townsend of Newberry, and Marsha and her husband Herb Brady of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, H. Warren Miller of Acton, and Russell Miller of Switz City; and two sisters, Ruth Rader of Danville and Aleatha King of Ocala, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ron Miller, three brothers, Jerry, Harry and Ross Miller, and a sister Wilma Haines.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel, Linton with the Rev. Raymond Rader and the Rev. Dan Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will be in Switz City Cemetery with military and Masonic graveside rites.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
