Anna Margaret Potochnik, 91, of Linton, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005.
Born in Linton on July 26, 1913, she was the daughter of John and Maryanna (Fermentin) Potochnik.
She worked as a registered nurse at St. Ann's Hospital in Chicago, Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C, and St. Anthony's Hospital in Terre Haute. She was a Major in the U.S. Army, serving as a registered nurse during World War II, and later retiring from the military. She also retired after working as the Director of Nursing at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton. She was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, VFW Post 7118, American Legion Post 22, and the Ladies Moose, all of Linton, and the American Nurses Association.
Survivors include her nephew Michael J. "Mickey" and his wife Kim Potochnik of Indianapolis and her niece, Francine Potochnik of Ferndale, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John Joseph and Joseph James Potochnik, and a sister Anna Potochnik in 1909.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton with Father Hilary Vieck officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 22 and the VFW Post 7118, both of Linton.
Friends may call at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel on Sunday from 4-8 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m., and from 9-9:45 a.m. on Monday.
