Roy Miles Schunk, 79, of Jasonville, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Nov. 16 ,1925 in Branch Hill, Ohio, he was the son of Miles and Louella (Taylor) Schunk. On Aug. 14, 1948, he married Anita June Sizmore.
He was a teacher and school administrator for 34 years before retiring in 1988 from the Metropolitan School District of Shakamak. He attended Ball State University where he received his B.S. and M.A. degrees in Education and Elementary School Administration. He actively served as an officer with the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II with the 71st infantry in the European Theatre.
Survivors include: his wife of 57 years Anita June Schunk of Jasonville; two sons, Gary L. Schunk of Jasonville and Steven D. Schunk of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral service is at 2:30 p.m. Friday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, Jasonville, with Pastor Dan McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery at Midland with military graveside rites by the Jasonville American Legion Post 172 and Jasonville VFW Post 6225.
