Samuel "Sam" Hollingsworth, 68, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Bloomington Hospital.
Born December 14, 1936 in Greene County, he was the son of Hershel and Virginia (Kern) Hollingsworth.
He was a graduate of Linton High School and had served in the Army as a Paratrooper. He had worked for the Colonial Baking Co. before retiring and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Stanford Masonic Lodge, the Lyons American Legion, and the Greene County Chapel Church.
Survivors include: his wife Linda (Cheeseman) Hollingsworth; a son and daughter-in-law Scott and Barb Hollingsworth; a daughter and son-in-law Shelly and Steve Patterson; four grandchildren, Matthew and Laura Patterson, James Douglas and Heather Sylvester; three great-grandchildren, Lacy Sylvester, Nicole and Grace Douglas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Sue Hollingsworth and Dave and Paula Hollingsworth; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Underwood, Joan and Wayne Carmichael, Margaret and Rex Camden, Caroline and Merle Helderman, Beverly Taylor and Linda and Edward Secrest; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rex Hollingsworth.
Funeral services will be held at Greene County Chapel Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Deb Reichenbach officiating. Burial will follow at Sanborn Cemetery, Sanborn.
Friends may call at the Allen Funeral Home, 3000 East Third St., Bloomington, from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children's Hospital.
