Ted Green, Sr., 88, of Swanton, Ohio and formerly of Worthington, passed away Thursday morning, April 21, 2005, at St. Luke Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
Born June 13, 1916 in Smith Township, Greene County, he was the son of Byron T. and Bula (Taylor) Green.
He spent several years in Michigan City working at a hotel early in his career. He spent four years in Marshall, managing the Turkey Run Hotel in Turkey Run State Park, which was a political position. At the time, his brother was working for the Governor of Indiana. Ted went from there to Valparaiso to manage a Holiday Inn, and after that, he managed the Ramada Inn in Nashville, currently the Four Seasons Hotel. He operated Ted's Hotel and Junction House Coffee Shop in Worthington. He enjoyed many years in semi-retirement in Greene County, working for the political causes nationally and locally that he believed in. Gardening and keeping up with the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren kept him occupied in his later years. He and all five of his brothers served their country in World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows, American Legion and VFW, all of Worthington.
Survivors include: one son Ted Green, Jr., of Delta, Ohio; four daughters, Virginia Sue Fromholz of Alexandria, Teddy Fatta of Zionsville, Jackie and her husband Rodney Harmon of Carmi, Ill., and Patricia Green of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
Military graveside service was held at Worthington Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Visitation was at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington on Sunday.
