ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. ---- Shirley Ann Jones, 70, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Medicalodge East.
Born March 14, 1934 in Greene County, she was the daughter of William H. and Teresa M. (Brewer) Goodman. On Jan. 23, 1953 she married Charles Jones in Sullivan.
She was reared and educated in Greene County, attending White Crossing two room school house. She later attended Linton High School. After marrying Charles, they made their home in Long Beach, Calif. for many years. They retired to Arkansas City in 1988. Shirley worked as a sales clerk at the local Post Exchange at the Long Beach Terminal Island Naval Base. She enjoyed working and studying her family genealogy.
Survivors include: three daughters, Dawnell and her husband Gary Satterlee of Long Beach, Calif., Penny Ele of Arkansas City, and Sandra Chamberlain of New Milton, England; a brother Norman Lane and his wife Jeanie Goodman of Linton; A sister Vurla and her husband James Buzan of Gainesville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Matthew R.C. Satterlee, Christopher Ele, Amber Ele, and David and Sharon Chamberlain; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Charlie Chamberlain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Jones, who passed away in 2002, three brothers, Charles, Boyd Eugene and William, Jr. Goodman, and a sister Beverly Bowden.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Parker Cemetery, Arkansas City, Kansas.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
