INDIANAPOLIS ---- John Lawrence Mears, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.
Born Jan. 5, 1934 in Midland, he was the son of Lawrence D. and Ruby E. (Phillips) Mears. On Aug. 21, 1955 he married Carolyn A. (Baker) Mears.
He retired in 1999 from Ford Motor Company as an inspector. He was a member of West Newton Masonic Lodge 707 and the United Auto Workers Local 1111.
Survivors include: his wife Carolyn A. Mears of Indianapolis; one daughter Diana L. and her husband David Raney of Pleasant View; two sisters, Judy K. and her husband Tom Drake of Brownsburg and Deanna J. Griffith of Bloomfield; and two grandchildren Joshua and Stacy Elliott.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday in Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services, Stirling Gerber Chapel, 5950 East Thompson Road, Indianapolis, with the Rev. Maynard Hatch officiating. A graveside service will be at Lebanon Cemetery, Midland, at 3 p.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. on Friday until the hour of service. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
