Leona Anna Harrah, 86, of Indianapolis and formerly of Newark, passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Harbor Side Health Care in Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 10, 1918 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Harry Ray and Edith (Tally) Buckner. She had been married to Audley Freeman Harrah, who passed away in 1977.
She was a retired farmer and attended Newark Baptist Church.
Survivors include: a daughter Mildred and her husband Richard Allen Carpenter of Indianapolis; a granddaughter Clita Ann Carpenter of Indianapolis; two sisters, Rosanna Pearson and Josephine Miller, both of Florida; two nieces, Loretta Miraglia and Carolynn Copenhaver, both of Florida; and special friends, Marvin and Nancy Johnson and their children and grandchildren, Gregory, Terrance, Bryan, William, and Terra.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Audley Freeman Harrah, and a son Willard Ray in 1959.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with the Rev. Sharron Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery, Newark.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from noon until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
