Jackie L. "Jack" Criss, 72, of Jasonville, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born October 15, 1932 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Herman R. and Opal D. (Dalgram) Criss. In 1961 he married Dana J. (Sechman) Criss. She preceded him in death January 15, 1999.
He was the owner/operator of Criss Insurance for 43 years, joined by his son Jay Criss in 1980. He was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church, Jasonville Lions Club, Shakamak Area Chamber of Commerce, Jasonville American Legion Post #172, Clay City VFW Post #6606, and the US Marine Corps Society. He served in the United States Marines.
Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law Jay B. and Shelley Criss of Jasonville; a sister Ruth Byarley of Jasonville; a brother Larry Criss of Jasonville; two grandchildren, Taylor Criss and Emily Criss of Jasonville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dana Criss.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, Jasonville, with Pastors Mark Messmer and Chris McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Midland. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Jasonville American Legion Post #172 and Jasonville VFW Post #6225.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
