Esther Mae (Shute) Owings, 86, of Bloomfield, passed away at 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2005, in the Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Dec. 31, 1918 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Luke and Jennie Cox-Morey Shute. She had been married to the Rev. Wallace J. Owings, who passed away in 2001.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Church of Bloomfield.
Survivors include: a son Donald R. Owings of Bloomington; two daughters, Myrna J. Whaley of Bloomington and Wanda R. VanSlyke of Bloomfield; one brother Raymond Shute of Bloomington; three sisters, Lois Wall and Naomi White, both of Bloomington, and Evelyn Denny of Martinsville; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband the Rev. Wallace J. Owings, a daughter Janet S. Peterson, a sister Virginia Hood, and three grandchildren, Jeff Whaley, Karen Ratliff, and Diana Peterson.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at First Pentecostal Church in Bloomfield with the Rev. Dean VanSlyke officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield and one hour prior to service Wednesday at the church.
