Eva Lucille Gray, 96, passed away at 10:03 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005 at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born June 28, 1908 in Stafford Township, Lyons, she was the daughter of Jesse Lee and Sarah Edith (West) Abram.
She was a 1926 graduate of Marco High School and attended Indiana Business College of Indianapolis the following year. She worked seven years at Crane during the Vietnam War and as a teacher's aide for several years at Linton-Stockton Elementary School. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Elite Club of Linton, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She has written several short stories which have been published.
Survivors include: two sons, William A. and his wife Lila Gray of Linton, and Phillip B. and his wife Mary Gray of Mooresville; one daughter Ruth Anne and her husband Wilbur Thompson of Linton; one sister Emma Jane Terrell of Worthington; one brother Jerry Abram of Linton; one step-sister Esther Sweeney of Bloomington; four grandchildren, William A. Gray, Jr., Richard S. Gray, Steven A. Gray, and Thomas E. Gray; four great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy M. Gray, who passed away on July 29, 1981, and two brothers, Harold "Bill" and Max W. Abram.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Stafford Township, Lyons.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
