Evelyn Gladys Arney, 89, of Sandborn, passed away at 8:09 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at Edinburgh.
Born July 12, 1915 in Knox County, she was the daughter of Francis Asbury and Jealzie Mae (Elkins) Newkirk. On March 4, 1933, she married Ira A. Arney.
She was a homemaker and attended Sandborn United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Assembly of God Church in Washington.
Survivors include: her husband Ira A. Arney of Sandborn; two daughters, Judy Dishman of Covington, Ga., and Sonda Dyson of Edinburgh; five grandchildren, Gregory Arney of Sanford, Fla., Lisa Arney of Lake Mary, Fla., Shawn Sylvia of North Vernon, Melanie Saglimbene of Covington, Ga., and Tera Dyson of Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Arney of Sanford, Fla., Cierra and Zachariah Sylvia of North Vernon, Ashlyn, Aubri, and Ethan Saglimbene of Covington, Ga.; one brother Francis McRay Newkirk of Valparaiso; and two sisters, Nellie Elizabeth Jerrell of Linton and Mable Lourine Bedwell of Edwardsport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Albert Wayne and Verlin Lee Arney, and a sister Goldie Marie Rose.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. today at Sandborn Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
