Viann (Schmaltz) Naanes, 64, of Worthington and formerly of Spencer, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at Owen Valley Health Campus.
Born in Coal City, she was the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Faulk) Schmaltz.
She graduated from Coal City High School in 1958 and she was a graduate of the Indiana State University School of Nursing. She had worked as an RN at Donna Nursing Home in Spencer and Greene County General Hospital, where she was the night shift supervisor, retiring from there in 1996. She was a member of the Spencer VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary and belonged to the Friendly Open Bible Church of Coal City.
Survivors include: her husband Ted Naanes of Worthington; one son Duane Williams of Indianapolis; two daughters, Shannon Vincent and her husband Tom, and Susan Otto and her husband Chad, all of Bloomington; two stepsons, Philip Naanes of Bloomington and Andy Naanes and his wife Lori of Gosport; three stepdaughters, Sarah Yeatman and her husband Brian, and Brenda Haulk and her husband Bryon, all of Spencer, and Teresa Evans of Brazil; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, a nephew, and a sister Karen Haxton.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 N. Montgomery St., Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Corns officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Hill Cemetery in Owen County.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
