John D. Guthrie, 80, of Bloomfield, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born Sept. 22, 1924 in Newberry, he was the son of Doyle Fane and Nora (Pettiet) Guthrie. He was married to Norma Gail (Gideon) Guthrie.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a construction worker for Local Union 181.
Survivors include: his wife Gail Guthrie of Bloomfield; four daughters, Karen Guthrie of Terre Haute, Diane Plaon of Winslow, Pamela Ball of Marco, and Mary Ball of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; a sister Helen Hawkins of College Station, Texas; and a brother Ray Guthrie of Vincennes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thurston and Donald Guthrie; and two sisters, Faye Moomaw and Mary Valentine Guthrie.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Jenkins Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with the Rev. Darin Hendrey officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Lyons, with graveside service by the American Legion.
Visitation was Sunday, and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service today at the funeral home.
