EDINBURGH ---- Merl L. Blaker, 79, of Edinburgh, passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1925 in Bloomfield, he was the son of Ruben and Orda (Skinner) Blaker. On Aug. 23, 1943 he married Lorene (Hill) Blaker, who preceded him in death July 2, 1999.
Blaker retired in 1986, after 32 years of service, from Arvin Meritor in Franklin. He attended the Amity Baptist Church and was a member of the Edinburgh Senior Citizens. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a former Scout Master of Amity Troop 211. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include: two sons, Joe Blaker of Edinburgh and Dean Blaker of Franklin; three daughters, Karen Luttrell of North Vernon, Janet Callon of Franklin, and Marsha Hodson of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ted Blaker of Bloomfield and Milo Blaker of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorene Blaker, a brother Russell Blaker and two sisters, Marjorie Groomer and Sarah Hanson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Walnut Grove Church of God, Bloomfield, with the Rev. Brent Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Friends may call at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, Edinburgh, today from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
