COLUMBIA CITY ---- Ralph L. Corner Sr., 93, of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born July 11, 1911 in Forest Lake Township, Lackawanna County, Pa., he was the son of Edward and Nellie Corner. His formative years were spent in Lackawanna County. As a teenager he moved to New York.
On July 15, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary C. Sheets. They made their first home in Marathon, N.Y. In the late 1940s they moved to Tri Lakes and later Larwill. In 1956 they moved to a farm in Richland Township. They later made their home at Big Lake for 10 years before moving to Columbia City about five years ago.
He was employed at Whitley Manufacturing for 30 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Eagles 1906.
Survivors include: his wife Mary Sheets of Columbia City; four children, Joyce Treesh and her husband Richard of Columbia City, Ralph L. Corner Jr. and his wife Ruth of Warsaw, Cheryl Corner of Larwill and Kathy Hamoel of Linton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister Bertha Jerram of Willow Point, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, John, Ellery and Albert; and a sister Ella Mae.
Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. today at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Robert Conelley, pastor of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.
