Norman H. (Jammer) Walters, 98, of Freelandville and formerly of Linton, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 at Freelandville Community Home.
Born March 16, 1906 in Westphalia, he was the son of Louis and Lena (Steffen) Walters.
He was a retired coal miner and had also worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation in Vincennes. He was a member of the White River Valley Beagle Club.
Survivors include: his wife Elvie Mayfield Walters of Freelandville; two sons, Paul Walters and Rex Walters, both of Freelandville; one brother Louis Walters of Vincennes; two step-daughters, Beverly Wiseman of Dugger and Brenda Guinn of Clinton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Thelma Yocum Walters in 1973, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Newkirk's Funeral Home, Dugger, with Father Hilary Vieck officiating. Burial will be in Freelandville Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
