Richard N. Gullion, 70, of Linton, passed away at 8:18 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 at his residence.
Born Dec. 20, 1934 in Mattoon, Ill., he was the son of Frank and Thelma (McClue) Gullion. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Robert (Walt) and Louise Carlton. On July 4, 1954, he married Mary Ann (Shanklin) Gullion. She passed away Oct. 22, 2003.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated Dick's Auto Repair from 1963-85. He also worked for several garages in Linton. He worked at NWSC Crane from 1990-2001, retiring in 2001. He served as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for 51 years and was in jail ministry at the Greene County Jail for the past several years.
Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia Ellington and her husband Michael of Linton, and Terry Davis and her husband David of Linton; six grandchildren, Tammy Duncan of Bedford, Richard Divivier and Anita of Switz City, Christeena Divine of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael Lacy and Rebecca of Brazil, Katrina Davis of Linton, and Carman Ellington of Linton; two great-grandchildren, James (Jr.) and Elijah of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother Bill Gullion of Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Gullion, his parents, one granddaughter Jennifer Lacy, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Linton, with Dr. H. Eugene Riker officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Linton. There will be a graveside service conducted by American Legion Post 22, VFW Post 7118 and DAV Chapter 99 at the cemetery.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today and at the church from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday.
