Jerry L. Land, 74, of rural Dugger, passed away at 9:01 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 10, 1930 in Sullivan County, he was the son of Fount and Gladys (Wilson) Land. He was married to Velda (Sheffler) Land.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a lifetime member of the Dugger American Legion Post #224. He was employed at CM Engineering in Dugger.
Survivors include: his wife Velda Land of Dugger; two sons, Sam Land of Mooresville and Tony Land of Sullivan; two daughters, Twila Land and Shannon Land, both of Dugger; one sister Jackie Flesher; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe and James Land; one sister Barbara Noel; and one grandson Shade.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Rev. Dan Dyer officiating. Burial will be in the Dugger Cemetery with graveside rites by the Dugger American Legion Post #224.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and before services Friday at the funeral home.
