TERRE HAUTE ---- O. Raymond Bland, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at his residence.
Born July 28, 1922 in Worthington, he was the son of Omer and Ella (Helms) Bland. He married Marion Reslor on Sept. 28, 1947. They had been married for 57 years this year.
He was self-employed. He served in the military from 1943-48 and was Private First Class with the 528th Quartermaster Battalion Service Co. of the 45th Division, and also trained with the 82nd Airborne in Sicily.
Survivors include: his wife Marjorie (Reslor) Bland of Terre Haute; a son Randy and his wife Gayle Bland of Terre Haute; two nephews, Charles Schmidt of Florida and Edwin Stalcup of Worthington; a niece Betty Ann Prather of Centralia, Ill.; and a grandchild Adrienne Bland of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Danny Bland and three sisters, Edna Stalcup, Juanita Campbell and Agnes Schmidt.
Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, Terre Haute, with Pastor Larry Reck officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. - noon Wednesday.
The family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of their choice.
