Mary Jane "Janie" Griffin, 78, of Worthington, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at her residence.
Born June 4, 1926 in Calvertville, she was the daughter of Floyd and Grace (Doyle) Noel. She had been married to William J. "Bill" Griffin, who preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1999.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Worthington Christian Church, Worthington Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary and Elks Auxiliary, and Phil Harris Ladies Golf Association. She was also a volunteer worker at the Son Shine Shop in Worthington.
Survivors include: one daughter Cathy L. Tackett of Sullivan; four sons, Kevin Griffin, Kirk Griffin, and Kerry Griffin, all of Worthington, and William Griffin III of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother Walter Noel of Lyons; and one sister Margaret "Dolly" Fulk of Linton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William J. "Bill" Griffin; a granddaughter Kristi Tackett; two great-grandchildren; and one brother William Noel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington with Tim Wingfield and Sherman Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday.
Memorials may be given to Worthington Christian Church or Greene County Hospice.
