Louis Edward "Ed" Hays, 64, Route 1, Solsberry died at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 30, 1940 in Worthington, the son of Silas R. and Opal Mae (Clark) Hays.
He was a retired turkey farmer and formerly worked in the maintenance departments at Indiana University and Bloomington Hospital. He loved spending time with his dog, Daisy Mae, and his bobcat. The U.S. Navy veteran was a member of the Folsom Memorial United Church in Worthington, the Solsberry Masonic Lodge and Stanford Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue (Miller) Hays, one son, Greg Hays and daughter-in-law Autumn Hays, of Route 2, Solsberry; one daughter Margaret Shields and son-in-law Tom Shields of Bloomington and two grandsons A.J. and Jordan Shields, of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Jacob Edward Shields, and two sisters, Roselind Stalcup and Mary Buster.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington with Byron Williams officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery, with military gravesite services by the American Legion and VFW of Worthington.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.
