Opal Shouse Heaton, 96, of Bloomfield, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at Lyons Health & Living Center.
Born March 16, 1908 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Dora "Doc" and Amanda (Haldeman) Shouse. She had been married to Ward T. Heaton, who passed away in 1982.
She was a school teacher for Owen County school system and also a substitute teacher for Greene County Schools. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and Bloomfield Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include: two sisters Mabel Hauser of Coal City and Rosemary Kincaid of Bloomington; one brother Parker Shouse of Coal City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ward T. Heaton; three brothers, Lowell, Russell and John Shouse; and two sisters, Florence Stump Sinders and Blanche Royer Crawford.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home Bloomfield with the Rev. Lynn Snyder officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today, and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the funeral home.
