Jack Hasler, 71, of Newberry, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at his residence.
Born Feb. 4, 1933 in Greene County, he was the son of Victor and Bonnie (Crooke) Hasler. He was married to Joyce (Sensney) Hasler.
He was a truck driver for Superior Carriers. He was a member of the Newberry United Methodist Church, Elnora Outdoor Club, President of the Newberry Alumni Association, MC of the Newberry Festival, Shawnee Field.
Survivors include: his wife Joyce (Sensney) Hasler of Newberry; a son Doug and his wife Kelley (Mayer) Hasler of Carmel; a daughter Demita Hasler of Newberry; two grandsons, Ian and Zachary Hasler of Carmel; a sister Farol (Hasler) Hall of Newberry; and two nephews, Mark Hall and Ronnie Autrey, both of Newberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Max D. Hasler, who was lost at sea in 1944; and one nephew Max Hall.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield with the Rev. Darin Hendrey and the Rev. Jim Roach officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Hasler began driving at the age of 6 years old. Since then, he continued to drive everything from race cars to big rigs. Family and friends are invited and encouraged to share their personal stories and memories of Jack at the service in celebration of his life.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and two hours prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
