LIMA, Ohio ---- Mercy A. Kayser, 89, of Lima, Ohio, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home, Lima, Ohio.
Born July 1, 1915 at Island, Ky., she was the daughter of Aaron and Sally (White) Gardner. She had been married to Keith D. Kayser, who passed away Nov. 19, 1998.
She was a former member of High Street United Methodist Church and member of Westside United Methodist Church. She was a Past Matron and 50-year member of Trinity Chapter 16 Order of the Eastern Star and past Worthy High Priestess-White Shrine, St. Mary's Court-Order of the Amaranth. She worked for over 20 years as a cafeteria worker at Central Junior High and West Middle Schools in Lima.
Survivors include: one son Robert and his wife Jolene Kayser of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Mary and her husband Richard Hakin of Lima, Ohio and Margaret and her husband Glen Norling of New Glarus, Wis.; two sisters, Juanita Knowles and Mabel Ursey, both of Jasonville; one brother Herb Gardner of Jasonville; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Keith D. Kayser; five brothers, John Gardner, Raymond Gardner, Sam Gardner, Roy Gardner, and Buck Garnder; three sisters, Stella Owens, Kate Hunt, and Ruby Wells; and one great-grandchild Brady Bower.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio with the Rev. Douglas E. Adams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima.
Visitation was Sunday in Lima, Ohio.
