EVANSVILLE ---- Harry V. Thompson, 79, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
He was a 1942 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School. In 1986 he retired from Inland Container after 41 years of service where he was instrumental in forming the union. He enjoyed playing clabber at SWIRCA. He could fix almost anything, but mostly enjoyed working on cars.
Survivors include: his wife of 57 years Julia M. (Russell) Thompson of Evansville; a daughter Dana Sharryl Mills of Evansville; a son and daughter-in-law Steven M. and Susan Thompson of Evansville; a sister Henrietta Covey of Vincennes; three brothers, Benjamin F. Thompson of Dugger, Thomas A. Thompson of Linton, and Guy Ray Thompson of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren, Shellie M. Thompson, Shauna L. Thompson, Corey L. Mills, Steven B. Mills, Jessica S. Ellington, and Kelsee Spells; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas H. Thompson, Jr. and Mary (Nancy) Snider, a sister Edith M. Calvert, and a brother Joseph Clyde Thompson.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, with the Rev. Robert Nall officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Evansville.
Visitation was from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
