LOOGOOTEE ---- Daniel E. Armstrong, 64, of Loogootee, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Born Oct. 20, 1939 in Chicago Ill., he was the son of Samuel F. and Dorothy (Tatom) Armstrong. On Sept. 13, 1961, he married Faryl Pickett Armstrong.

He retired from NWSC Crane after 26 1/2 years of service. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and he coached Loogootee elementary boys basketball teams, and was LHS basketball statistician for 34 years. He graduated from Odon High School and Indiana State University. He served in the United States Air Force. He attended Loogootee United Methodist Church, was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 120. He was also a member of White River Lodge 332 F&AM, Scottish Rite, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Loyal Order of Moose 1080.

Survivors include: his wife Faryl Pickett Armstrong of Loogootee; a son Clay and his wife Stephanie Armstrong of Jasper; three sisters, Mrs. James (Barbara) Baker of Indianapolis, Mrs. Dale (Peggy) Humphrey of Springville, and Mrs. Charles (Kay) Taylor of Grand Lodge, Mich.; his mother-in-law Della Pickett of Loogootee; a brother Harry and his wife Ruth Armstrong of Bedford; two sisters-in-law, Edith Armstrong of Alamogordo, N.M. and Mrs. Rex (Sharyl) Humerickhouse of Glen Carbon, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Austin David Armstrong, Garrett Daniel Armstrong, and Abbey Ann Armstrong, all of Jasper.

He was preceded in death by one sister Marcella Harrell and three brothers, Edward, Jack and Richard Armstrong.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Brocksmith Funeral Home, Loogootee. Burial will be at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Newberry with graveside rites by the American Legion and VFW.

Visitation was Monday at the Brocksmith Funeral Home.
